Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Your health data belongs to you. Within Reach stores your information on your device and optionally syncs it via your private iCloud account. We do not have access to your personal health information, and we never sell, share, or transmit your health data to any third party.

Health Data & HealthKit

Within Reach integrates with Apple Health (HealthKit) to help you track your GLP-1 medication journey. This section explains exactly how we handle your health data.

What HealthKit Data We Access

With your explicit permission, Within Reach may read and write the following HealthKit data types:

Data We Read:

  • Body weight
  • Body mass index (BMI)
  • Medications and doses
  • Step count
  • Workouts
  • Heart rate (associated with workouts)
  • Active energy burned (associated with workouts)
  • Level of effort (associated with workouts)

Data We Write:

  • Body weight (when you log it)
  • Symptoms (nausea, fatigue, etc.)
  • Workouts
  • Level of effort (associated with workouts)

How We Use This Data

We use HealthKit data solely to provide health-related features within the app—displaying your weight trends, showing activity progress, and helping you track symptoms alongside your medication schedule. This data is used only to improve your experience within the app.

Where Your Health Data Is Stored

  • On your device: All health data stays on your iPhone or iPad.
  • In your iCloud: If you enable iCloud sync, data syncs via your private iCloud account, encrypted end-to-end by Apple.

What We Never Do With Your Health Data

In compliance with Apple's HealthKit guidelines and our commitment to your privacy:

  • We never store your health data on our servers—we do not operate servers that store your data, and we cannot access it
  • We never use your health data for advertising or marketing
  • We never sell or share your health data with third parties
  • We never use your health data for data mining or user profiling
  • We never transmit your health data to analytics services

Revoking HealthKit Access

You can revoke Within Reach's access to HealthKit at any time:

  1. Open the Settings app on your device
  2. Tap HealthData Access & Devices
  3. Select Within Reach
  4. Toggle off any data types you no longer want to share

The app will continue to work with manual data entry after you revoke access.

Other Data the App Uses

In addition to HealthKit data, Within Reach stores the following information locally on your device:

  • Medication tracking: Your medication schedule, dose amounts, and injection history
  • App preferences: Your notification settings and display preferences

This data is stored on your device and synced via your private iCloud account if enabled. It is never transmitted to us.

Notifications

Within Reach uses local notifications to remind you about medication doses, weight logging, and symptom check-ins. These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device—no data is sent to external servers to deliver them.

Analytics

Within Reach uses TelemetryDeck for privacy-focused, anonymous analytics. We collect only:

  • An anonymized, non-identifying device hash
  • Whether certain features are used (e.g., "user has enabled reminders")—with no details about the content
  • Which screens are viewed in the app

Important: No HealthKit data, weight measurements, medication details, symptom logs, workout information, or any other personal health information is ever sent to analytics. Analytics data cannot be linked back to you.

We also receive Apple's standard, anonymized App Store analytics (download counts and crash reports), which do not include any health data.

Deleting Your Data

You have complete control over your data. Here's how to delete it:

  • Delete individual records: Use the app's editing features to remove specific weight entries, symptom logs, or medication records.
  • Delete all app data: Delete the app from your device. All locally stored data will be removed.
  • Delete iCloud data: Go to Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Within Reach → Delete Data.
  • Delete HealthKit entries: Data written to Apple Health can be deleted in the Health app under Browse → [Data Type] → Show All Data.

There is no account to delete because we never create one. Since we don't store your data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
